Since 2014, Trapholt has worked with large-scale collaborative art projects. They engage hundreds of citizens who, together with designers\/artists through creative processes, help create large, unique works of art that are exhibited at the museum and afterwards become masterpieces in the museum’s collection.<\/p>\n

The projects focus on the high level of craft and creativity that can be found throughout Denmark. When Trapholt combines an artist\u2019s visionary concept with the creativity and masterful craftsmanship of individual citi\u00adzens, the result is a unique work that could only be created together as a community.<\/p>\n

Awards<\/h4>\n

Art Critics’ Awards 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

AICA Denmark – The Association of Danish Art Critics celebrated the Danish art scene with the Art Critics’ Awards 2024.
\nThings Matter by Randi Samsonsen at Trapholt received the award for “Art Event of the Year 2024”.
\nThe jury’s motivation:
\n\u201cWith her sculpture project, \u201dThings Matter”, for Trapholt Art Museum, artist Randi Samsonsen achieved several things. By inviting citizens to participate in the project, she activated a number of people and institutions across the country and initiated discussions about art in public spaces. The citizen participation became a joint sculpture, clearly guided by the artist, who also advocated knitting as an artistic material<\/em>”
\nThe jury had shortlisted the following in the Art Event of the Year category:
\n1. Randi Samsonsen, Things Matter, Trapholt; 2. Inuuteq Storch, Rise of the Sunken Sun, Venice Biennale; 3. Kirsten Justesen, Monument for Countess Danner<\/p>\n

In 2021, Trapholt won the prestigious museum award \u2018The Artmuseum Award<\/strong><\/a>\u2019, organised by The European Museum Academy (EMA). The EMA represents over 40 member countries.<\/p>\n
