How do we experience time? Is it slow or fast – short or long?<\/h3>\n

We measure and plan time in an attempt to make the most of it. There are times when we switch off the clock in search of calm and presence. Some feel pressed for time, while others are energized by the fact that something is happening all the time.<\/h3>\n

Kristine Mandsberg invited citizens to embroider one word, that encapsulates their personal experience of time, on a piece of used bed linen. The project period lasted throughout the winter and spring of 2024, with a series of workshops, conversations and creative processes where the project’s 813 participants explored how time can be understood and visualized.<\/p>\n

The 813 contributions are collected according to the chronological age of the participants in an artwork 455 meters long, which contains over 45.500 years of combined life experience from the participants. The artwork reflects the impermanence of time and our different perceptions of it. It shows how people experience, create and express meaning around time. The artwork reflects the many personal, poetic, aesthetic and ethical ways in which we understand and relate to time. It shows that our experience of time is not just a linear and universal process, but something that is shaped by our emotions, experiences and cultural background.<\/p>\n
