WASTE TIME
The WASTE TIME service is a global tea- and dinner service created by Anja Franke in collaboration with Trapholt and people from around the globe, including Europe, Mexico and India. In 2016, Anja Franke worked on the frame with citizens from the seven municipalities of the Triangle Region: Billund, Fredericia, Haderslev, Kolding, Middelfart, Vejle and Vejen.
The global tea- and dinner service is made of white porcelain that people no longer use and therefore discard. Anja Franke viewed this as a waste of resources and so, in 2012, she developed a new concept. She invited citizens to participate in workshops where the purpose is to absorb oneself in ‘wasting time’ while painting patterns on the white porcelain. The pattern is painted in an ultramarine colour and thus references to the Blue Fluted of Royal Copenhagen. In this manner, white pieces of porcelain, which were headed for the trash, are transformed into a beautiful and valuable global service.
