Anette Harboe Flensburg – In Company with No-One

Danish artist Anette Harboe Flensburg (b. 1961) paints architectural scenes devoid of people. Extending across four rooms, the exhibition In Company with No-One offers a journey that engages the senses in various ways, taking visitors from dark, smouldering oranges and reds to bright, bluish and coolly tinted spaces.

The exhibition at Trapholt takes the viewer through four exhibition rooms, each capturing a distinctive mood or feeling.

To pass through the exhibition is to pass from darkness to light, from earth to sky, from cellar to attic. In our encounter with the works we carry with us our own experiences, interests and personal and cultural backgrounds

In her art, Anette Harboe Flensburg wants to create a space for reflection and exchanges pertaining to a particular trait of the human condition: the fact that we are all fundamentally alone. Her empty, abstract spaces offer an opportunity to experience something that seems simultaneously familiar and alien.

The exhibition is generously funded by Beckett-Fonden
